This study is the theoretical consideration about public under the premise that urban public space is the physical realization of public interest and at the same time amenity for the sake of users is needed the most earnestly than in any other public places. After the consideration of amenity which urban public space must have equipped with, I intend to gain amenity improvement guidelines.

First, I carry out the analysis of users’ response about the degree how much they feel amenity at urban public space, especially in Korea. In this process I get to extract amenity factors and the constituent element of those factors. Second, among the amenity factors and their constituent elements, to find out what has the priority to form amenity, I present an indicator to measure the degree of amenity as a basis for the objective and quantitative valuation about the amenity factors and their constituent elements. Third, through the analysis about amenity in urban public space, I present the suggestions to improve the amenity of urban public space, which afterwards can be applied to the policy for the consolidation of urban public space.
