This study compares and analyzes the differences in housing satisfaction among young single-person households by rental type (public and private rented housing) and the factors that influence it. Young adult single-person households are increasingly renting housing rather than living in their own homes. There is a lack of previous research analyzing the housing satisfaction of young single-person households by rental type. This study analyzed the differences and determinants of satisfaction by housing type using t-test and multiple regression analysis using data on 2018 and 2023 rental housing residents nationwide (19-39 years old). The results showed that the difference in satisfaction between public and private rental housing was significant, with public rental housing residents being more satisfied. The determinants of housing satisfaction differed in degree, but not in determinants, and the access to facilities had the greatest impact on housing satisfaction, but the lowest satisfaction. In addition, housing satisfaction increased after the implementation of the Youth Housing Welfare Policy in 2018. Based on these findings, it is recommended to expand the supply of public rental housing, improve facility accessibility factors when planning rental housing, and continue to promote youth housing support policies. This study is significant in that it suggests the need for a differentiated approach to housing policy for young single-person households based on the type of rental.
